I AM INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING AS AN INDIVIDUAL

I AM INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING AS GROUP OR FROM HOME

Individuals

Adult Volunteers work on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and sign up monthly, according to your own schedule. Prior to your first volunteer shift, adult volunteers must attend a New Volunteer Tour and Orientation.

High School Student Volunteers (9th -12th grade) can get involved with the Furnish for Good Youth Council, a group of students who volunteer as a group one weekend day a month, usually on a Sunday afternoon. The Youth Council is an academic year commitment and begins in August. High School Students who need community service hours but are not able to commit to our Youth Council, can volunteer remotely.

Groups and Ways to Volunteer from Home

We are thrilled you or your group is interested in volunteering with Furnish for Good. Below are a few ways you or your group can volunteer on your own time, from anywhere!

Build a Box, Bag or Basket:
In addition to furniture, FFG clients receive those essential items that every home needs.  Using the instructions and checklists below, you can collect and assemble these items into our signature Essential Box, Bag or Basket for immediate distribution to our clients.

Instructions:
Bedding Bag
Bathroom Basket
Cooking Box
Dining Box

Stuff the Truck:
Help us replenish our donations. Working with our team, you will select a date, then promote and host a donation drive for furniture and home furnishings. On the designated date, Furnish for Good will send our truck to the location you select – a neighborhood, school, church, or wherever. You and your group will spend several hours hosting and collecting donations of furniture and household items.

Help us with laundry:
Love to clean? Love to fold in neat, straight lines? We receive towel and sheet donations that need to be washed before we make them available to our clients. We rely on volunteers to help us make linens sparkle.

Organize a virtual donation drive:
We have online wish lists for items we always use and need. We supply you with a list of the most needed items and the links to purchase them. Organize your neighbors, book club, family or other group to set a purchasing goal. Maybe generate some friendly competition and win bragging rights?

Set up a Good Workshop:
Purchase desk kits, dresser kits and/or dining table kits from our online wish list and set up a workshop to assemble the furniture. Are you artistic? On your next thrifting outing, pick up some art in plain jane frames, ornamental objects, chairs with stained or frayed fabric, or even a dresser or coffee table. Take the items home and use your creativity to transform them into something fabulous. Take before and after pictures to be profiled on our social media as “Doing Good Creatively”.
